Re: How to set Python Environment prior to login so can run a python program at startup

Hi Mhanh

I didn't modify ntpd, that is another script file I am running that sets the time to internet time on bootup. The Python progam is located in /media/realroot and starts to run, as the first thing it does is activate the I2C bus and writes a message to a file, which happen. The problem happens  when it tries to load the SMBus library, as  it can't find the file (see error message above).

I tried to use full paths to the library, but python didn't like it. I also tried to set the PythonPath attribute in the script in init.d, but it didn't work.

I can't use OS command to set the path as it isn't able ot find the OS library.

I am going to see if I can set the path as a variable and will go back to see if there is any other way to set environment variables prior to login.

I would really like to not have to use an Arduino sketch to display the IPAddress, as am deathly afraid of either using or having students use the USB port and killing more boards.

thanks for your reply
