Running mysql on root@clanton

Hi there,

I have installed  mysql server and mysql client on root is up to date. Now does any one know how to check that those packages are running if I give a command "ps".

And also does any one are aware of accessing mysql database through the root@clanton either in putty terminal or in Tera Term terminal and check with all the database.
