Re: D54250WYK Windows 8.1 low memory error

I contacted Intel support today (Jul/10) to address this issue and got this same official response that this is a problem with Windows 8.1. This is nonsense.

I have four other computers from different manufacturers, all with Windows 8.1, all running un-interrupted for days, all have been connected to the same monitor (and many others), all using the same resolution and not one of them ever raised this exception.

Add to it that I think I already isolated the problem. By un-installing the “Intel Graphics Driver” the problem goes away. Originally, it takes 5 hours (give or take) for the message to appear, (with no activity, whatsoever). After I uninstalled this program I didn’t receive the message in two or three days of the NUC running uninterrupted.

I can’t say for sure that the message won’t come back in a week or in a month but I will keep you posted if it does.

Meanwhile, Intel, please, take ownership of this incident. As a very senior software developer and architect I can guarantee you that this “excuse”  won’t hold for long.

It is better to admit that you don’t have a solution for the problem but that you will continue your investigation than to infuriate your customers with this lousy and illogical response.
